House Construction in our Lao Garden (mid June 2002)

We are building a new house in the garden. The new two-floor house has living rooms, bedrooms, a new kitchen for the family, and a new kitchen for the restaurant.

The roof is on!

The rainy season can come now!

A very interesting scaffolding!

The scaffolding a bit closer. It is not the heavy-built Swiss type, but eventhough it does not look very strong - it looks quite scary actually - it has done the job.

The platform for the lookout sits on the 1st floor.

Standing on that platform, we can have a close look at the roof.
From the rooftop platform, we have a great view to the north ...

... and to the south with our ponds in the garden.
Isn't that a great view from up here?

Back from the rooftop, we are now on the 1st floor. The wooden floor is still missing.
Our CFO Dtan has to be careful when she enjoys the view from up here.

A ceiling will be put in here so we do not get the heat from the roof into our bedrooms.
The roof provides shade to the windows on the 1st floor, and it protects the wall from heavy rains.

Our new bathroom has its tiles already - nice and bright.
